Marijuana part 2

Obtaining the prescription

So once you have talked with your doctor or researched if Marijuana can help you the next step is to go out and get the prescription. You need to find a doctor in your home state that can legally in that state give you a prescription. The fastest way is to google doctors who can legally prescribe medical marijuana. If there are several different doctors you can chose from don't hesitate to call a few and ask questions. Then choose the one you felt most comfortable with. Most health and prescription companies either don't or won't recognize the healing affects of Marijuana don't take this personal, most health insurance company's don't or won't recognize how much help a nutritionalist could give and we live in a country with an epidemic of obese people who want to get help to be healthy, and so this doctors visit won't be covered. Don't hesitate to mention if you are disabled or are receiving any kind of state assistance they may lower the cost of the doctors visit.

Keep in mind most people who are given a medical marijuana prescription are over 21. Every state is different as is every doctor.

Keep in mind that only 23 states and the District of Columbia currently have laws legalizing medical marijuana. Each state is different about what they believe a qualifying medical condition is. Only four states and the District of Columbia currently allow recreational use. Recreational use is only for adults 21 and over who know the dangers of use. No matter if its for recreational use or medical use no child or teenager should be given or sold any product, nor should you use in-front of  or with your child or teenager as this could put their health at risk. All paraphernalia and product should be kept out of sight and locked away. Pregnant and breast feeding women should not use marijuana unless expressly told to by your doctor and then still think about it. Doctors still don't know everything that a unborn baby can get from their mothers while in the womb. Even stuff in your city's water can affect your unborn baby.

Its a good idea to arrive at the doctor office a good fifteen to twenty minutes early. The receptionist will need a copy of your divers license or state id. They will need copy's medical records from your doctors confirming the health problems you say you have. They will need to photocopy these. They will also have you fill out a bunch of paper work about your conditions and if you have ever used marijuana before.

Next you will meet with the doctor and talk and explain about the type of pain and trouble that your conditions cause you. Then the doctor will make a physical examination of you. Your doctor will decided after this if you are eligible for a medical marijuana prescription. Remember to not lie or falsify any information you tell or give to the doctor or receptionist as this is illegal and not to mention bad form.

If your doctor does decided that you do qualify for a prescription he will send you over to the billing department. They will give you the signed prescription by your doctor. You should never copy this prescription or tamper or share it in any way this once again would be illegal and bad form.

Once you have the prescription in hand and your doctors recommendation of what type to use the next part is up to you. When I was a newbie at this I just though marijuana was marijuana that it had thc in it and that it made you "high" if you used it. First off not all marijuana is created the same and thank goodness for that. Each different strain of marijuana is different and they each have there own name. Each different strain has cons and pros and medical benefits.

Next blog post we will talk about strains of marijuana and how to go about finding out what's right for you

Marijuana Madness

This is info I wish I could have found on the internet !

Have you read or heard about the benefits of Medical Marijuana?

Is all Marijuana bad?

Has you doctor said Marijuana might help you?

Do you have absolutely no idea about how to go about using or getting Marijuana?

Is all you know about Marijuana is that its a plant and a drug?

If you have answered yes to any of these questions than I hope I can help answer them. So I have chronic illnesses. I went to one of my specialists and he said that some of his patients had seen good results with the use of Medical Marijuana. He then told me he couldn't prescribe it. The state that I live in allows sick people to obtain a medical marijuana prescription. I also live in a state that allows marijuana for recreational use. I am a newbie and by newbie I mean I have never used marijuana. I of course have heard about it, especially in high school in and out of health class, i had friends in high school that used but never pressured me to use it once they knew I wasn't interested. When I graduated high school I knew that Marijuana was a plant and that people smoked it to get high. So flash forward 15 years and that is still what I know.

I went online to research and educate myself about Medical Marijuana. Shockingly I couldn't find very much information that I could understand. Yes I can read and comprehend and I graduated with very decent grades. What the problem was every website I encountered was using words and slang I had never heard before.  Every website I went to expected you to already know what they were talking about. I know that if I watched the news or read it I probably would know more. The thing is I don't watch or read the news much because news stations only report bad news, I am busy, and would rather be asleep when the 11 o'clock news comes on. I read the highlights and if I am interested I read the story. If you think that's wrong well we all have our own opinions.

So after educating myself I thought it might help some if I wrote a blog about it. (disclaimer I don't know everything about this subject but would have loved to find a website that would take you from zero knowledge to being able to understanding this subject.)

So I've decided to write a series of blog posts on this topic. Today I'd like to start with the first steps you need to take to getting a medical marijuana prescription.

The first step talk to your medical doctor and or specialist if you have a specific issues and ask them if they know if taking marijuana in any form has helped some of their other patients or if it is helpful to your specific issues. Also ask them if they have any reasons they think it might make your symptoms worse. Keep in mind that some medical doctors have done there homework and are very knowledgeable and some doctors are very judgmental and don't know anything about it and will tell you their own personal feelings. Example : My specialist told me that many of his patients have found relief by using medical marijuana but that he wasn't licensed to write me a prescription. He also told me that smoking marijuana could make my symptoms worse.

The next step is to do your research. Here is a list of very simple terms that when you first read them might be confusing.

Marijuana : the common or general term for the dried leaves and female flowers of the cannabis plant that possess medical and psychoactive compounds

CBD:  CBD stands for Cannabidiol. Cannabidiol is found in Marijuana. In recent times research has found that Cannabidiol treats anxiety, pain, and inflammation among other things depending on the strain with out the user getting any of the psychoactive effects or "high".

THC: THC stands for tetrahydrocannabinol. It is a physiological active compound in the marijuana. It is helpful with certain health problems depending on the strain of marijuana. It is also sought after when using Marijuana for recreational purposes due to the feeling users get.

Hemp : Hemp is the male part of the cannabis plant.

Pot: Slang for Marijuana

Weed: Slang for Marijuana

Two websites that are very helpful with more in-depth terms and slang are:

Next blog we will talk about how to get your prescription in each state that its legal to do so.

So I guess I'll get to the post of why my blog is called Dumpster Diving River Rats. Its simple I love finding treasurers from the Goodwill, second hand store, garage/yard/rummage sale, vintage shop and you guessed it even climbing in dumpsters. Now I don't go climbing into dumpsters just to see whats in there because lets face it, it can be downright gross and hazardous. Usually its something that I see sticking out of a dumpster that catches my eye or its always fun to climb a large one and take a peak. (Always remember to stay safe if you do this and in some-places this is illegal) Its really amazing what you can learn about other people from the trash and things they throw away, but that is a topic for another day. Now the river part. I love going swimming at the river in the summer time when its hot out. A lot of my family do as well, hence my mother calling us Dumpster Diving River Rats. I know it sounds extremely hardcore red neck or white trash. I really don't see myself as those things but to each his own.

I love the Goodwill. I like the idea of reusing things, we are such a throw away society. I also love getting brand name items and some high end items at a very reduced cost. I hate paying full price if I know I can get it cheaper. I love that Goodwill has a office where you can go and they will help you get a job. I love how Goodwill highers people who really do want to work for a living but might not be hired at other places. I LOVE being able to pull up to one of their stores and hand them over bang after bag, item after item and they don't charge me one red cent to take all my junk away. What I love the most is the Goodwill outlets. Goodwill outlets are the best because you can get clothing by the pound. Its the best and the funnest way to shop at the Goodwill. I go in with $25.00 and before tax I can get about twenty eight pounds of clothing. At my local outlet I pay only $0.89 a pound if I have over twenty five pounds.  Now I know some people don't like how much money the CEO of Goodwill makes each year. It doesn't bother me at all. He gets paid way less than any other CEO out there working for a non 501.c3 company. He also has over 163 Goodwill's to take care of. Not to mention they help over a million people with employment training and job placement Also did I mention that they take your stuff away for free and they give you a recite so you can deduct it from your taxes. Plus if this really bothers you don't shop there. It will just give everyone who does more selection when they go shopping......

Also had to mention that you can shop Goodwill at home now. They have a online website where you can buy things and they will send it to you. You can also buy from them through ebay. I have noticed that some Goodwill's will sell high end items or rare items this way.

THE START OF WHAT I LIKE TO CALL

HAPPY RANDOMNESS

Well now its been about what a zillion year well at least what feels like a million years since i last posted. Not that anyone follows this blog or well not right now. So here are my ramblings as of right now. I have decided to start blogging about what ever crosses my mind. My interests change often as it is hard for me to find a hobby that I really like and that will hold my attention for long. Today I have been trying to work out the bugs in my new Lenovo Flex 3 that I bought at Costco.

I like it so far. Love the back lit keys. The light looks purple and as I am totally in to colors so this ROCKS. The problems so far are the touch screen is temperamental and once it goes to sleep it won't wake up. Just realized this sounds just like me. Well the sleeping part does but hey that's what its like when you have chronic fatigue or am fatigued almost all the time.  I'm not so much of a Windows 10 fan yet. I think it looks a lot like the older operating systems. Some may like this. I am just a believer of if you say its new and special it shouldn't look just like the last couple of ones. I'm now experimenting with personalizing my laptop.  Can you say HELLO KITTY WALLPAPER!!!! Husband thinks I am nuts but hey whats new, he is probably right.......
